In line with Wee Care’s emphasis on giving the children in our programmes the very best, we have important and experienced professionals and experts on our Advisory Board.

Vera Bernard-Opitz

PhD (Clinical Psychology), Licensed Behavioural Therapist

Wee Care Advisor for Early Intervention and Child Development

Dr Vera was the founder of the Structured Teaching for Exceptional Pupils (STEP) programme in the late 1980s in Singapore. During this period, she was an Associate Professor in the Department of Social Work and Psychology as well as Head of the Autism Research Centre and the Behavioural Intervention Centre for Children (BICC) at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Dr Vera has written a book entitled Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and contributed numerous research articles on her area of expertise to professional journals in the USA, Germany and Singapore. These include topics pertaining to Parent-Training, Pragmatics, Computer-Assisted Instruction and Intensive Early Intervention.

Altogether, she has more than 30 years of experience working with children with autism.


Belinda Murugasu-Koh

MBBS, MMed (Paediatrics), FAMS

Wee Care Advisor for Paediatrics

A former President’s Scholar, Dr Murugasu-Koh is a Consultant Paediatrician. She is also a Visiting Consultant in the Department of Paediatrics at the National University Hospital. A President’s Scholar, she completed her undergraduate studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) before embarking on postgraduate training in paediatrics in Singapore, the United States and Canada. She lectured in the Department of Paediatrics (NUS) and was an Associate Professor before going into private practice.
