Gardens by the Bay – An Outing for Life Skills

31st October 2012

In the chapter, “A Garden of Talking Flowers”, Alice was taken by surprise to meet flowers that could communicate with her!

We took the opportunity to visit Gardens by the Bay to learn more about flowers. In particular, we wanted the children to observe the wide range of flowers inside both domes, plus describe their characteristics using the right kinds of vocabulary labels and attributes.

Flower Dome was a beautiful and vibrant array of colours when we entered. We observed flowers from different regions of the world. In Cloud Forest, we were greeted with the refreshing mist of a man-made waterfall! The children saw beautiful orchids, ferns, begonias and even, pitcher plants.

We had so much fun – it was a great experience!
